Your Immorality

Wie schändlich du gehandelt

Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)

Your Immorality
Your immorality! From humankind I withhold it. I went far off and told it To the fishes, out at sea. Only on firm dry ground Do I leave you your good name: But in the oceans, the wide world round, They know about your shame. ...and by Emma Lazarus (1849 -1887)... I told not man, nor woman How ill you dealt with me; I came abroad and published it To the fishes in the sea. Only upon terra firma I have left you your good name; But over all the ocean Every creature knows thy shame.
